Native to California, Emilia’s roots lie in the coastal foothills
of the Topa Topa Mountains. Her work is influenced by her hispanic upbringing, by stories of hidden Chumash petroglyphs in the area, collections of antique pottery her mother treasure-hunted from estate sales, and the terracotta arches and rock formations that surround her family’s home in the central Mexican desert.

West america pottery is a small, conscious brand born in 2018 in Nashville, Tennessee. Emilia's pieces are slowly and deliberately made in small batches, both wheel thrown and organically hand-built. They often feature earthy, natural finishes and old world decorative elements that are influenced by archaeology and the raw, native landscapes of the American Southwest and Mexico.

Working with clay has been a form of therapy for Emilia, as it has taught her connectedness with herself and the world. everything she creates is a reflection of the beauty in the places that have held her and showed her who she is. From raw clay textures to white washed adobe style finishes, everything made is intended to capture the essence of the old world’s relationship to the earth and the ancient stories that are
hidden within it.
